摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus using a counter developing means by which a toner image having no dark dots and fogging and having high density and excellent fine line reproducibility can be obtained even if printing of a number of sheets is performed, an electrophotographic image forming method, an electrophotographic photoreceptor, and a process cartridge. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic image forming apparatus has an electrostatic charging means, an exposing means, a developing means performing development by a developer including a toner, and a transferring means for transferring the toner image obtained by the developing means via or without via an intermediate transfer member to a recording material on the electrophotographic photoreceptor having the intermediate layer including inorganic particles and a binder between a conductive substrate and the uppermost layer. The developing means is a developing means of a dry process using a dry process developer and is a means for performing contact development by the developer moving in the counter direction with respect to the moving direction of the photoreceptor; in addition, the number average primary grain size of the inorganic particles is 5 to 300 nm, and the intermediate layer is covered by the uppermost layer.
