PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an extra-low YR electric-resistance welded tube for building materials by which a YR (Yield Ratio) is satisfied within <80% inexpensively, and to provide an earthquake-proof building material using the electric-resistance welded tube as a main shaft. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing the extra-low YR electric-resistance welded tube for the building material, the prepared electric-resistance welded tube 1 is heated to the temperature range between 600°C and 1,100°C, is subjected to diameter-reduction process of≥18% at the temperature range, and then is subjected to a rotational feeding/bending straightening in the condition that the a maximum offset is≥2.0 mm and a maximum crush is≥2.0 mm. The earthquake-proof building material uses the extra-low YR electric-resistance welded tube for the building materialsi manufactured by the manufacturing method as the main shaft 4.
