PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a throw-away tip for a cutting-off tool capable of eliminating umbilicated remainder of a cut face and suppressing damage of a finished face by cutting chips. SOLUTION: This throw-away tip is formed into a substantially prism-shape having an upper face 1, a lower face 2, side faces 3 and a flank 4 on a distal end side of the longitudinal direction. A rake face 5 is formed on the upper face 1 side adjacently to the flank 4. The tip is provided with a cutting blade 7 made of an intersecting ridge line of the rake face 5 and the flank 4. The cutting blade 7 is provided with a lead angleαand is substantially horizontally disposed. A breaker face 6 is formed between the rake face 5 and the upper face 1. A ridge line 8 is formed at the boundary of the breaker face 6 and the rake face 5. The breaker face 6 is formed to be substantially surface-symmetrical with respect to a vertical surface for substantially dividing the throw-away tip into equal two parts in the width direction.
