PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for a planographic printing plate capable of subjecting a planographic printing plate having a photopolymerizable photosensitive layer using a high-fineness screen in image exposure to development processing without the occurrence of image defects, such as unevenness in processing and the like, for a long period of time, and an automatic development apparatus. SOLUTION: The processing method for the planographic printing plate by subjecting the planographic printing plate having a photopolymerizable photosensitive layer on a support to laser beam exposure, then to development processing and the automatic development apparatus have a process of using the high-fineness screen having≥250 lines as AM screen and≤50μm size of the minimum pixel constituting dots as an FM screen in image exposure, and removing the protective layer of the planographic printing plate after the exposure in a pre-rinsing section, in which the removal is performed by regulating the temperature of the cleaning water in the rinsing section from 15 to 50°C.
