PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor mat for an automobile and its manufacturing method having excellent sound absorbing performance capable of securing sufficient quietness and of exerting a good slip preventing performance with respect to the underlay surface on which the floor mat is to be laid. SOLUTION: The floor mat for the automobile is structured so that a non-woven fablic layer 32 is laminated fast on the undersurface of a surface skin layer 29 and a meshing body layer 3 consisting of thermoplastic resin is adhered to the undersurface of the non-woven fablic layer 32 by means of rigidly by means of fusion of the resin, and is furnished with a number of slip preventive projections 4 made of thermoplastic resin in such a way as protruding from the undersurface of the meshing body 3. A fusion body having approximately a meshing form is formed so that molten yarns consisting of thermoplastic resin are applied in entanglement onto the upper flat surface of an endless crawler structured so that a band-form body formed so that a plurality of plate-form dies furnished with a cavity for forming projection are coupled together in band form are wound fast on a pair of shafts, and thereon a non-woven fablic layer of the mat body is overlapped and a pressure is applied.
