PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device for a base-isolated building capable of automatic resetting to have a locked state after an earthquake, though the locking device is a mechanical one in which a locked state is kept when no earthquake occurs and the locked state is switched to an unlocked state when the earthquake occurs. SOLUTION: A dowel pin 9 vertically movable and urged downward is mounted on either one of a superstructure 1A or a substructure 1B of a base-isolating layer 2, and an engaging part 6 for fitting the dowel pin in it is mounted on the other in a manner that the dowel pin is freely inserted or removed. A water tank 10 housing a float 11 is provided near the dowel pin. The float and the dowel pin are linked to each other in a manner that the dowel pin is fitted into the engaging part by an upward movement of the float to have a locked state, and that the dowel pin moves out of the engaging part by a downward movement of the float to have an unlocked state. The tank and a low tank 12 are connected and communicated with each other by a water pipe.
