PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for producing an aluminum sheet having excellent mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The method for producing an aluminum sheet includes: a stage where aluminum molten metal is fed into the space between a pair of rotary rolls; a stage where the fed aluminum molten metal is cooled by the pair of rotary rolls, so as to be solidified; and a stage where the solidified aluminum is rolled between the pair of rotary rolls. The surface of each rotary roll is tempered without being quenched after nitriding treatment. After the nitriding treatment 17 shown in a graph, reheating is performed over a period 18, and tempering treatment is performed over a period 19. By performing the tempering without carrying out quenching, each rotary roll in which a hardness gradient in the depth direction from the surface is made mild, thus toughness is improved can be formed. By using this rotary roll, the adhesion between aluminum and each rotary roll can be reduced, and further, cracks are made hard to be generated on each rotary roll. In this way, an aluminum sheet in which fine structure of aluminum is obtained by applying a high load to each rotary roll, and having excellent mechanical properties can be stably produced.
