METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for diagnosing RA (rheumatoid arthritis) with which the dipeptidyl peptidase activity in a sample is assayed and a diagnostic estimation of the RA is carried out or the amount of spinorphin is assayed in addition to the assay of the dipeptidyl peptidase activity. SOLUTION: The method for diagnosis is carried out by assaying the activity of the dipeptidyl peptidase present in a sample such as joint fluid, blood and cerebrospinal fluid collected from a mammal. The method for diagnosis comprises reacting the sample with a fluorescent synthetic substrate specific for the dipeptidyl peptidase and bestatin which is an aminopeptidase inhibitor in the presence or absence of tynorphin which is a dipeptidyl peptidase inhibitor and assaying the fluorescent intensity of the reaction solution after the reaction.
