<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inner drum exposure apparatus capable of consistent halftone recording. <P>SOLUTION: The inner drum exposure apparatus comprises a support which holds a recording material in an arc-like manner, a light source which emits a circularly polarized light beam, a modulating means which modulates the light beam according to image information and a scanning means which is rotatably driven, has a total reflection mirror plane and scans and deflects the recording material on the total reflection mirror plane with the modulated light beam. The scanning means further comprises an optical member having on its surface a polarizing-beam splitter plane which is spaced apart from the total reflection mirror plane by a predetermined distance, and two beam spots respectively formed on the recording material by two parallel beams that are obtained by the polarizing-beam splitter plane, and the total reflection mirror plane are combined into a synthetic beam spot in which the two beam spots are disposed side by side in a sub-scanning direction so as to overlap each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
