PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for finding an optimal sampling parameter for a measuring instrument from an eye diagram. SOLUTION: An eye opening is found by storing measured values of an eye diagram of a signal of an object of concern in a data structure, and inspecting it. In some cases, an eye opening being interesting has already been normalized as a figure of merit of that signal relevant to necessary conditions of an operating voltage and timing of a data receiver, and in some cases the eye opening is normalized later. A position inside a normalized eye opening 107 is used as a center position of a trial symmetrical form, and the symmetrical form is started from a place where it is small and is expanded up to a place including a position which is not a part of the normalized eye opening. Mapping of the center of a maximum symmetrical form is performed to the unit of an original eye diagram again as an optimal sampling parameter of a data analyzer. The data analyzer uses the receiver and performs sampling of a signal only once per unit time, and finds a digital value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
