PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking stick with which a matter fallen onto the ground surface can be picked up while securing safety characteristics by providing an insert-holding arm which can be operated in the state of gripping its handle. SOLUTION: The walking stick provided with the handle 2 extended nearly in an L-shape at an upper end part, a ferrule part 3 provided at a lower end part and a hollow rod part 4 provided between the handle and the ferrule part is provided with: an operation lever 6 which is extended facing the handle and provided so as to be approach/separate-operated with fingers gripping the handle; an insert-holding art 5 so as to be opened and closed with respect to the ferrule part; and a driving mechanism for opening and closing the operation arm by operation of the operation lever 6.
