<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus that can shorten a wait time before the temperature of a fixing member rises and also shorten the time from the acceptance of a print request to the completion of printing. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 1 which fixes an unfixed image formed on a recording medium by heating and pressing the unfixed image by passing it through a fixing nip portion formed of at least two or more fixing members has a means 8 of detecting the temperature of at least one of the fixing members, and is characterized in that the unfixed image is fixed at fixation temperature and in a nip time which are determined by the number of print requests of a job and the temperature detected by the temperature detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
