MEDICINAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING 2-MERCAPTOIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVE SUBSTITUTED IN POSITION 4 (OR 5)

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicinal composition containing an antioxidant active ingredient.

SOLUTION: The medicinal composition having the antioxidant activities contains a compound selected from the group consisting of (a) a specific 2-mercaptoimidazole derivative substituted in the position 4 (or 5), (b) 2'-mercaptohistidine 2-(trimethylammonium)ethyl ester chloride, (c) 2-(2'-mercaptoimidazol-4'-yl)ethylamine, (d) 2-(2'-mercaptoimidazol-4'-yl)-N,N-dimethylethylamine, (e) 2'-mercapto-Nα,Nα-dimethyl-L-(+)-histidine and (f) carnitine 3-(2'-mercaptoimidazol-4'-yl)propanoate, and a pharmacologically acceptable carrier.
