<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in an apparatus having a function of performing data communication and recording or reproducing data. <P>SOLUTION: A communication part 26 performs communication via a base station. An HDD 27 records or reproduces data in a hard disk 27B. A recording and reproducing part 28 controls power supply to the communication part 26 and the HDD 27. For example, when the HDD 27 reproduces musical data, the recording and reproducing part 28 permits the power supply to the HDD 27 and does not permit the power supply to the communication part 26. When the communication part 26 performs communication, the power supply to the communication part 26 is permitted and the power supply to the HDD 27 is not permitted.
