<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coded data reproduction apparatus where an error about a reproducing time after seeking is reduced by specifying a seeking position speedily and precisely. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a coded data analysis part 101 for analyzing an coding system of coded data 300 to reproduce, a decoding part 102 for decoding the coded data 300 based on the analyzed coding system, and a control part 104 which receives a seek command and a time of seeking from a user application 200, calculates a bit rate for seeking control using a part of the coded data 300 and calculates a data size to seek using the received time of seeking and the calculated bit rate for seeking control.
