PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing device which can optimize waveform equalization processing for a read signal by an equalizer. SOLUTION: While reading information from an optical disk, the optical disk reproducing device changes a boost variable of an equalizer from one value to several values to measure a jitter value and a block error rate (#5), every time it reads information covering prescribed addresses (YES in #11), in the case that the rotation of an optical disk is CLV rotation (YES in #3). Then, the optical disk reproducing device sets the boost variable in which the measured jitter value and the block error rate are optimum (#6), and changes an offset frequency of the equalizer to one value to several values in addition to the setting of the boost variable, to measure a jitter value and a block error rate (#8) in the case that the rotation of the optical disk is CAV rotation (NO in #3), and sets a cutoff frequency in which the measured jitter value and the block error rate are optimum (#9).
