PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine multi-level information by simultaneously using a reproducing signal having a small influence of intercode interference rather than determining multi-level information only from a cell center value sampled at the center of a conventional cell. SOLUTION: Cell multi-level information is judged by using both of a reproducing signal (value between cells) sampled when the center of an optical spot comes to a boundary between the cell and its subsequent cell and a reproducing signal (cell center value) sampled when the optical spot comes to the center of the cell.
