PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for preventing dot inferiority generated in displaying images on an image display medium having a memory property. SOLUTION: The image display medium encloses black particles and white particles between a display board formed to juxtapose a plurality of linear data electrodes 32, and a rear face board arranged to juxtapose a plurality of linear scanning electrodes 26 orthogonal to the data electrodes 32. A part between the boards is partitioned into cells 36 by gap members 18. A drive device makes a voltage applied on the scanning electrode 26 of the region of a lower-half of a scanning direction S and the data electrode 32, higher than a voltage applied on the scanning electrode 26 of the region of an upper-half of the scanning direction S and the data electrode 32.
