<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a protective cover which covers and protects an interface for an option device from being lost, when the option device is not mounted, in an image forming apparatus which is so constituted as to mount the option device, such as image reader, ADF, and paper discharge device, on a primary image forming apparatus body. <P>SOLUTION: The protection cover is configured to rotate without separating from the primary image forming apparatus body, and also mounted as an exterior cover for the option device, when the option device is mounted.
