PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording device capable of stopping writing at a frame end point even if a malfunction occurs in detecting clock information, in a data recording device which records data by using a synchronous clock generated based on clock information generated in a recording medium. SOLUTION: The data recording device records data by using a synchronous clock generated based on clock information generated on a recording medium. The device is provided with an interval counter, anαcounter and a segment counter. The interval counter and theαcounter operate with a certain-frequency clock which does not depend on the clock information. In the interval counter, its count value is reset when division information dividing a frame into a plurality of segments is detected, and, when the count value reaches a count value corresponding to a segment length, the count value is reset and a signal for starting theαcounter is outputted. In theαcounter, its count value is reset when the division information is detected, and when the count value reaches a count value corresponding to a prescribed length shorter than the segment length, the count value is reset and the counter value of the segment counter is incremented. In the segment counter, its count value is incremented when the division information is detected, and when the count value reaches a count value corresponding to the frame length, the count value is incremented, and a writing-prohibiting signal is outputted.
