PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping device which can be used without maintenance. SOLUTION: A central hole (20) is formed in a housing (15) of a base block, and a tapered positioning surface (23) is formed on the upper portion of the central hole (20). A receiving surface (25) is formed on the upper surface of an annular wall (24) projecting upward from the housing (15). A collet type intermediate sleeve (40) is inserted into the space between a surface to be positioned (27) formed on the outer periphery of a rigid sleeve (21) inserted into the central hole (20) and the tapered positioning surface (23). An elastic member (45) energizes the intermediate sleeve (40) downward, and also energizes the rigid sleeve (21) upward. When an output member (48) is driven downward, a clamping member (33) moves downward in the radially expanding direction for locking, and the surface to be received (29) of the rigid sleeve (21) is received by the receiving surface (25).
