摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain light transmission display on a liquid crystal device using a lateral electric field by providing optimum constitution conditions of the light converging direction of a light converging prism sheet used for a back light and having a prism structure and the length direction of linear electrodes (common electrode and pixel electrode). SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device, constituted by holding liquid crystal between a couple of substrates and having a lighting device and the light converging prism sheet converging light from the lighting device, has dots having a common electrode and a pixel electrode, which are formed on one of the couple of substrates and configured to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal by the common electrode and pixel electrode. The common electrode or pixel electrode has two length directions and is arranged so that the angle formed by the two length directions and the light converging direction of the light converging prism sheet deviates from 90°.
