PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reagent for detecting an aromatic solvent or a drug by a color reaction, capable of maintaining constant sensitivity for a longest possible period. SOLUTION: This reagent for aromatic gas detection is formed by adding and dissolving paraformaldehyde into concentrated sulfuric acid. This detection material for aromatic gas detection is formed by impregnating the reagent formed by dissolving paraformaldehyde into concentrated sulfuric acid, into a substrate formed by compressing and solidifying silica gel particles.
