PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent abnormal combustion by suppressing rise of temperature in a cylinder accurately. SOLUTION: An ECU performs a program including a step (S100) for detecting signals from an engine rotational speed sensor, a throttle opening sensor, a knock sensor, and a variable valve timing mechanism and a step (S120) for calculating fuel injection time so that fuel injected from a fuel injection valve hits an intake valve, scatters into a part near an ignition plug, and scatters on an exhaust side wall face when abnormal combustion occurs (YES at S110). When sprayed fuel reaches the part near the ignition plug, the ignition plug is cooled to suppress plague and form a weak stratification air-fuel mixture having, in particular, high concentration of air-fuel mixture near the ignition plug. When the sprayed fuel reaches a wall face of an exhaust side combustion chamber, temperature of the wall face of the exhaust side combustion chamber is reduced, exhaust side flame transmission is delayed to suppress knocking, and homogeneous air-fuel mixture is formed in the combustion chamber.
