PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device capable of automatically performing an unlocking operation interlockingly with a sliding door closing operation and suitable for crime prevention. SOLUTION: A locking piece 9 provided at its tip end with a fastening part 9a protruded in the indoor direction is rotatably pivoted at a vertical shaft 10 and housed in a door end stile 3 of a sliding door (d). A receiving piece 13 is protruded from a doorstop 4a of a vertical frame 4 opposed to the door end stile 3. A receiving part 13a to be fixed by a spring energy and fastened by the fastening part 9a of the locking piece 9 when the sliding door is closed is protruded in the outdoor direction from the tip end of the engaging piece 13. A pressure receiving part piece 9b is protruded in a vertical direction from the locking piece 9, and an unlocking piece 15 for pressing the pressure receiving part piece 9b in the outdoor direction against the energy by the spring is housed in a handle 14 provided in the indoor surface side of the door front end stile 3.
