PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-resistant polyarylate resin which has excellent heat resistance and can be produced in a good yield. SOLUTION: This arylate copolymer is obtained by thermally melting and copolymerizing a mixture of three components of diphenyl 9,10-dihydroxyphenanthrene-2,7-dicarboxylate (2) (PhDHPDA), terephthalic acid (TPA) and isophthalic acid (IPA) as a dicarboxylic acid component with 2,2-bis(4-acetoxyphenyl)propane (BAPP) as a diol compound.
