A level converter is disclosed. In one embodiment, the level converter includes a first and second input for applying a first voltage and first and second output terminals for providing a second voltage, a first RC element, and a second RC element, and a first controlled current source arrangement and a second controlled current source arrangement. A control signal generating circuit is provided that generates a control signal for the first and second current source arrangements and has at least one differential amplifier arrangement which is designed to compare a potential at at least one of the outputs with a reference potential and to generate a differential signal on which the control signal is dependent.
