Bone screw and driver system

A low profile bioabsorbable bone screw (10) and driver (100) system. The driver (100) has a distal end (130) that partially encases the periphery (96) of the screw head (20) of the bone screw (10) and has a metal stabilizing projection (160) configured to be received by a recess (40) of the screw head (20) and to prevent the screw head (20) from laterally disengaging from the distal end (130) of the driver (100).
