System and method to prevent movement of a prinitng plate during clamping

A system and method prevents the movement of a printing plate (18) during clamping to an external drum (24) of an imaging system using a clamping apparatus (100). The clamping apparatus (100) includes a clamping portion (104) that is disposed on said external drum (24). This clamping portion (104) can selectively take two positions: a clamping position and a release position. The clamping apparatus (100) also comprises an inflatable member (118) positioned between said clamping portion (104) and said external drum (24). Its function is to displace the clamping portion (104) between the clamping position and the release position. The system includes a spring-metal component (115) positioned between the clamping portion (104) and the plate (18) and its purpose is to prevent the plate (18) from moving during clamping.
