Synchronous operation of motors, that are controlled by a control apparatus such as a numerical control apparatus or a robot controller is effected by transmitting interpolation period signals (ITP) via a serial bus from a master controller to one or more slave controllers. The ITP signal is regenerated in the slave controller using a phase locked loop.
