摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for color image processing, capable of preventing from saturation and bright-area-gradation deterioration of pictures, and acquiring images having optimum luminance in each part. <P>SOLUTION: First entropy value calculating means 14 calculates entropy value of a density histogram for each divided area, which means an indicator representing perceptivity in each part of image data of overexposure. Simultaneously, a second entropy value calculating means 18 calculates the entropy value of the density histogram in each divided area of image data having underexposure. A composite ratio determining table 19 determines partially different optimum composite ratios after producing a synthetic ratio determining table, having a higher ratio of image data of overexposure as the illuminance becomes lower, having a higher ratio of image data of underexposure as the illuminance becomes higher, having entropy value of the image data of underexposure being lifted its lowest vale of the illuminance, and having entropy value of the image data of overexposure being lifted its maximum vale of the illuminance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
