<p>Fine metal particles or fine metal oxide particles in the form of a dry powder, which is prepared by a method comprising coating the surface of particles of a metal or a metal oxide with molecules of a coating agent having a functional group containing an oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur atom at the terminal thereof, utilizing a stable dispersion in an organic solvent of fine metal particles or fine metal oxide particles having an oxidized coating layer on the surface thereof, removing the dispersion solvent, removing excess molecules of the coating agent by the washing with a polar solvent without detriment to a coating agent molecule layer for coating the surface of said particles, and finally vaporizing the polar solvent used for the washing, followed by drying. The above fine metal particles or fine metal oxide particles are free from coagulation for a long period of time without the use of a dispersion solvent and can be utilized as extremely fine particles having the form of a good dispersion, and the method allows the production of the above fine metal particles or fine metal oxide particles with ease and simplicity.</p> |
