A method for forming silver halide emulsion particles by allowing an aqueous solution of silver salt and an aqueous solution of haloid salt to mix and react with each other to form silver halide emulsion particles, wherein at an intermediate point of a first nozzle from which one of the aqueous solution of silver salt and the aqueous solution of haloid salt is blown out as a rectilinear flow of turbulent flow, the other of the aqueous solution of silver salt and the aqueous solution of haloid salt is blown out from a second nozzle as a crossflow that crosses the rectilinear flow at a substantially right angle, merged with the rectilinear flow, then the rectilinear flow entrained by the crossflow is blown out into a mixing chamber of a larger diameter than a diameter of the first nozzle to allow the aqueous solution of silver salt and the aqueous solution of haloid salt to mix and react with each other, and a liquid resulting from the mixing and reaction is discharged from a discharge port of a smaller diameter than the diameter of the mixing chamber, and a corresponding apparatus are described.
