<p>The clamp (1) has a body (2), a cover plate (7), a spring pack (4), and a piston (9) in the centre of which is a ball chuck to grip a bobbin (3) mounted on a workpiece palette (25). Coolant which enters the chuck space (11) can escape through a drain hole (28), formed by a hollow extension (26) of the piston which has a seal (27), and slides in bore in the centre of the body. Drainage grooves (30) are provided in the bottom surface of the body. To protect the spring pack chamber (12), the piston is sealed by O-ring seals (8,10,15) against the ball cage (16), the cover, and a seal ring (5). The ball chuck acts against a shoulder (14) on the bobbin. Hydraulic pressure to operate the piston is be applied through a tapping (19) and oil tube (18).</p> |
