Improvements in or relating to tetracycline antibiotic compositions

Pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions comprise a tetracycline antibiotic and a succinic acid derivative of the general formula: where X is an oxygen or sulphur atom or an imino group or an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt or a bis-anhydride thereof. They may be in conventional pharmaceutical forms (e.g. granules, capsules, lozenges, troches, candies, elixirs, drops, injectable solutions and suspensions) and veterinary forms (e.g. mixtures with animal and poultry feeds), such forms also comprising conventional diluents, carriers, nutrients, and trace elements and vitamins and other medicaments (e.g. penicillin, bacitracin, sulphaquinoxaline, phenylassonic acid, hydroxyzine and oleandomycin). The invention further comprises the treatment of animals by administering thereto the active compounds of the invention, not necessarily simultaneously.
