The method involves receiving and evaluating a detection signal from a detection plate by a reader, and finding current distance between a reader and a detecting disc from run time dependent characteristics of the signal and velocity of propagation of electromagnetic waves. A reference detecting signal of a reference disc and the signal of the disc to be identified in relation to a time delayed evaluation, are simultaneously evaluated.
