An explosion proof light assembly comprising a cooling element 1, light emitting diodes 7 in thermal contact with the cooling element 1, a transparent cover 2 and a lens 24 for deflecting and bundling the light at an angle by using two internal reflecting surfaces. The power LED's 7 comprise a substrate for providing light and are arranged in a mounting plane such that the diode substrates lie substantially parallel to an internal side 9 of the cooling element 1 and that the longitudinal axes of the diodes 7 extend transversely to the substrates and have substantially the same orientation. |
