The production and packaging line has a control device for the production and packaging units provided with a memory (63) holding different sets (61,62) of parameters corresponding to different manufactured product types, with selection of a parameter set dependent on the type of product to be manufactured, used for setting up the production and packaging line. Each parameter set contains a material identification (64) for comparison with an actual material identification and setting values compared with actual values provided by operating data detection (67). An independent claim for a control method for a production and packaging line is also included.
