884,951. Cigarette-making machines; cigarmaking machines. KÍRBER, K. Nov. 23, 1959 [Feb. 3, 1959], No. 39637/59. Class 130. Tobacco showered from an opener 2, Fig. 1, on to spikes 5 in a peripheral recess 6a of a feed wheel 6 is carried past a rotary presser roll 15 and rotary or freely-rotatable presser discs 16 and is held down by spring wires 18 whilst being trimmed by a rotary cutter 17. The trimmed tobacco passes under a guide 8 to be thrown by a picker wheel 10 on to the final rod-forming, or an intermediate, conveyer belt 1 of a continuous-rod machine, whilst the trimmings pass via conveyers 25, 26 to the opener 2. Where the discs 16 are freely rotatable, the wires 18 are coiled round the fixed disc spindle 19, Fig. 2, which is mounted on spring-loaded sliders; where the discs 16 are driven by the spindle 19, Fig. 4, the wires 18 pass thereunder to wing nut adjusters 27. The machine may make cigarettes or cigarillos. |
