A valve stem (26) is mounted in a nozzle body, with the valve stem moving fr om an open position retracted from the injection orifice (32) permitting the fl ow of resin to the mold cavity (40), to a closed position blocking the injectio n orifice (32) and preventing the flow of resin to the mold cavity, and to an advanced position within the gate nub (42) area to assist in the ejection of a molded part and clear the gate nub (42) area.
