The transfer system, made from generally U-shaped rail sections (1a, 1b) with guides (2) and racks (5) for machine tool carriage pinions, has the free end of each rail section equipped with a wall (6) extending from one vertical side (7) to the other (8) and fixed to them by coupling plates (9, 10) that allow clearances between guide and rack sections to be taken up. The coupling plates have holes (11) for fixing bolts (13) and nuts (14).
