<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an item search system, a broadcast receiver, an item search method, and an IC tag for quickly and accurately searching for a search objective item over a wide area. <P>SOLUTION: Among vehicle attribute information stored in an IC tag 5 stuck to each of respective vehicles, a broadcast station 1 transmits tracking vehicle attribute information 10, which is attribute information of a stolen vehicle as a search object, to the broadcast receiver 3 along with subscriber information 12 via a broadcast satellite 2. The broadcast receiver 3 receiving these pieces of information reproduces the tracking vehicle attribute information 10 according to a reproduction condition flag when a CAS processing part 27 authenticates the subscriber, reads the vehicle attribute information from the IC tag 5 stuck to a vehicle on the periphery to collate it with the tracking vehicle attribute information 10 for search of the stolen vehicle.
