PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent bad effects on central segregation even if a step is generated between adjacent support rolls. SOLUTION: In the present method, the support roll units 8 are changed such that the step H between a fixed side support roll 6 of the support roll unit 8 and the fixed side support roll 6 of the adjacent support roll unit 8 is within the range from 0.1 to 1.5 mm.
