The invention relates to systems that are used to assist the guiding of a tool (3) designed to be handled by a practitioner (1) in relation to a part (2) of the human body. The inventive system is essentially characterised in that it consists of: means (10) for producing a first three-dimensional image of a first set comprising the part (2) of the human body and a first reference system (R<SUB>1</SUB>) which is linked to said part; means (10) for producing a second three-dimensional image of a second set comprising the tool (3) and a second reference system (R<SUB>2</SUB>) which is linked to the tool, said second image being produced in relation to the first reference system (R<SUB>1</SUB>); means (20) for producing a third image which is formed by superimposing the first and second images such that the representations of the first reference system (R<SUB>1</SUB>) contained respectively in the first and second images are essentially merged; and means (30) for projecting said third image in the visual field (4) of the practitioner (1) while he/she is handling the tool (3). The invention is particularly suitable for assisting dentists in inserting a dental implant in a jaw bone or assisting surgeons in implanting a prosthesis. |
