The machine for filling containers, e.g. bottles or tubs, with foodstuffs, e.g. dairy products or fruit juice, has a row of sealing units (13) which fit closures on to containers. These are passed under the units in apertures (17) in plates (16). The sealing units can be slid sideways so that they are positioned beyond the machine frame (10) for maintenance.
