<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which mounts a process cartridge and appropriately judges the quality of an LD (laser diode) array consisting of a plurality of LDs. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 mounts the process cartridge storing a photo-conductor, development/toner storing parts and the like in a cartridge case. In a first LD 30a and a second LD 30b respectively of an LDA 30, differences of respective driving electric currents of the first LD 30a and the second LD 30b respectively at room temperature and at a specified high temperature are compared with a specified defined value to judge the qualities of the first LD 30a and the second LD 30b. When the first LD 30a and the second LD 30b are judged to be defective, an alarm is displayed on a display of an operating part, and driving the first LD 30a and the second LD 30b of respective channels is stopped. It is possible thereby to improve miniaturization and maintenance properties, and to appropriately and easily detect deterioration of the first LD 30a and the second LD 30b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
