摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal film stably formed without a complicated process such as light irradiation under an inert gas atmosphere and having alignment holding ability after homeotropic alignment fixation and and excellent mechanical strength.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal film is formed by homeotropically aligning a liquid crystalline material containing a side chain type liquid crystalline high molecular compound having oxetanyl group as a structural component on an aligning substrate and after polymerizing the oxetanyl group, fixing the homeotropic alignment.
