WATER-BASED EMULSIFIED DISPERSION OF BUTYL RUBBER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based emulsified dispersion of a butyl rubber (regular butyl rubber, halogenated butyl rubber and polyisobutylene) excellent in storage stability and to provide a method for producing the dispersion. SOLUTION: A butyl rubber is dissolved in an organic solvent to prepare a rubber solution. Rosin soap and an anion-based emulsifying agent such as an alkylsulphate or an alkylbenzenesulfuric acid containing 8-22C alkyl group are mixed under stirring into the rubber solution to emulsify the butyl rubber and diluted with water and the organic solvent is distilled away. In the dispersion, the weight ratio (A/B) of the rosin soap (A) to the anionic emulsifying agent (B) is (90/10) to (70/30) and solid content after distilling the organic solvent away is 40-65 wt.%.
