PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable clay to be swelled sufficiently and to be dispersed in a resin well to improve the rigidity of an obtained resin composition. SOLUTION: The method for producing the resin composition involves subjecting a thermoplastic resin, a phyllosilicate and a disperser to first-stage kneading at 0-100°C, heating the resultant product to a temperature not lower than the melting point of the thermoplastic resin, and subjecting the heated product to second-stage kneading.
