PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat capable of supporting certainly the head of an occupant with a headrest despite its constitution such that the headrest is moved forward upon sensing a backward movement of the occupant. SOLUTION: A headrest mounting rod 10 having once moved upward is willing to return to the original position upon receiving the load of the backward movement due to the inertia of the occupant's head, while an engaging piece 51 retreated from the moving locus K turns backward due to the inertia acting on the mass of the engaging piece itself quicker than the headrest mounting rod descending to return to the original position and is engaged with the undersurface of the headrest mounting rod, and the head supporting condition of the headrest 6 is held as it is. An engaging bend 53 is formed inclining ahead down while an abutting surface 55 is formed inclining with tail down, and when the engaging piece 51 turns from the position where a spring 61 for retreating abuts to a turn stopper 62, the undersurface of the headrest mounting rod gets over the abutting surface 55 to be engaged with the engaging bend 53 to generate going beyond the dead point M (boundary between the bend 53 and the abutting surface 55), which causes the two members to lock each other.
